What Is Your Golfing Skill Level?

To ensure success and FUN in a WGANJ golf league or event, WGANJ has defined five (5) levels of golfing skills:

Beginner – individuals who have never played on a golf course or who have limited playing experience. For the Beginner Golf League Program, the season will consist of several weeks of instructional clinics prior to participating in the regular league season.

Advanced Beginner – golfers who have already participated in a Beginner league or for individuals who have some golf course experience. For the Advanced Beginner Golf League Program, the season begins wit instructional clinics and includes lessons on the course.

General Golfer – golfers with at least one year of experience on a golf course and general knowledge of the USGA rules, as well as the ability to play “ready golf”.  These leagues will offer a selection of golf games and introduce some team competitions. USGA Handicaps range from 21- 40.

Intermediate Golfer – golfers with a USGA handicap between 18 and 35 or the equivalent score of 100 to 120.  For the Intermediate Golf League Program, there are golf games and team competitions included in addition to an introduction to competitive play.

Advanced Golfer – golfers with an established USGA handicap of 28 or less and consistently score less than 100. For the Advanced Golf League Program, league play will be at courses with yardage of 5600 or greater. These leagues are for the more competitive golfer who will be playing either in team, partner, and/or individual formats as determined by the League Captain.
